This small handmade plate can be used for serving appetizers, breakfast, or dessert. It is part of a larger set of pieces, a series I call Aotearoa. Aotearoa is the Maori name for New Zealand. The series is the reflection of my travels through this picturesque country in October 2019. The active volcanoes, deep fiords, high snowy mountains, ancient native forests, glaciers close to the beach, active geothermal areas, deep glowworm caves, and spectacular sandy beaches (black, white, and golden) – it’s all there. No wonder, New Zealand is said to be geologically and geographically the most diverse country on earth.
The above plate is my expression of Waiotapu – an active geothermal area with lots of colourful hot springs, like Champagne Pool and Artist’s Palette being the most popular ones.
If you want to create a larger set you may look for the same series pieces or use your imagination and create your individual match.
