A mug with a saucer – Hoppipolla series

This handbuilt set of 2 ceramic pieces consists of a mug and a saucer. The mug can be used for serving hot drinks, like coffee, tea, matcha but you can use it to serve food, like sauces, a handful of berries, or nuts as well. The saucer can be used as a dessert plate for serving cookie, sweet bun or any other sweets. Each piece is unique and one of a kind.

It is part of a larger set of pieces, a series I call Hoppipolla. Hoppipolla is an Icelandic word meaning “jumping into puddles”. It is a metaphor of the series which was created as a result of mixing decorating techniques, using many different colours at the same time. We do sometimes feel as we were kids – playing, having fun, and not following any rules.

If you want to create a larger set you may look for the same series pieces or use your imagination and create your individual match.
